It is where Kris and Kendall Jenner spent some peaceful time and prayed to Buddha for some tranquility with their family’s controversial and full-of-drama realities. This temple is famous for its half-burried golden Buddha statue named Luang Poh Phra Thong or Golden Buddha located within its grounds. Another interesting monument is the Wat Phra Phrud also known as the Temple of the protruding Buddha”.
The temple has been believed to be one of the oldest of its kind in the area. It has received several visits from famous personalities apart from the Kardashians namely King Rama VI on 1909 who at that time was the crowned prince of Thailand and was also the one who put a name to the temple.
The Wat Phra Thong is not so hug compared to other temples in the area but composing of a number of buildings and styled with colorful designs, it is absolutely a place worth visiting. The prominent tourist attraction in the area is of course, the half-burried Buddha which was believed to be untouchable in that every person who has tried to dig out the magnificent Buddha were cursed. Legend tells that a farmer boy who tied his buffalo to an object that looked like a post in an open field was cursed and fell very sick that resulted to his death along with his buffalo. Prior to the incident, the farmer boy was believed to have dreamt of the incident and went to check the area that turned out to be the topmost part of the untouchable Buddha.
Many locals have come to dig out the Buddha as well but were only able to attain a small exposed part of the statue and alleged said that they could not dig it up no matter what obstacles they had to take. Since then, the locals built a temple around it when a monk on a pilgrimage was able to located the holy image. The temple has been a spiritual center since then among the locality.
