To maximize the ultimate beach experience, it is best that you visit these areas during the morning when the sun is barely as hot as it is during the noontime. However, if you just feel like relaxing in an environment where few people would crowd, the more calm beaches in the area include the Avenida de la Playa, Calle 17 and Calle 50.

For the adventurous travelers, feast your senses on the town’s best enjoyed water sport activities. Most of the resorts that are open to tourists visiting these areas offer free non-motorized sport activities such as boating or riding on bancas that swerve through the waters. If that’s not too thrilling for you, your enthusiasm will surely be satisfied as you engage in activities such as jet skiing, power boating and sail boarding.

Varadero generally has three marinas known as the Marina Gaviota, Marina Chapel’n, and Marlin Marina Darsena. These areas are the perfect tourist spots to engage activities such as boating excursions and sport fishing. Fun times are truly catered here.

If the curious instinct sets in, you may also explore the town by learning the town’s local geography or by hopping off and on the famous Varadero Beach tour aboard a double-decker red bus.

Aside from just dipping yourself in its fantastic beaches, these areas are also home to rich marine life such as corals and a wide array of fish species. For just about an hour’s long boat ride, divers would come here and experience a unique atmosphere of sea treasures such as the sunken forty-foot long World War II ship found within these bodies of water. The dive sites are beautifully situated with surrounding islets of the Varadero Peninsula.

Farthest amongs all these dive sites and yet the most famous ones are the Bay of Pigs and Cayo Coco situated just south of Mantanzas.

Most resort accommodations would include packages on diving activities that will spare you the hassle of making the preparations on your own.

If you’re getting tired of just hanging by the beach, you may also go golfing at an 18-hole golf course. Not only will you enjoy the sport, you will also be astonished by its magnificent surroundings of palm trees and, as usual, a beach view.

This area is not only rich in natural wonders but also is home to some of the richest cultures in the world. The best place to come visit for the history buffs out there would be the neighboring town of Matanzas. Here, you can enjoy the Afro-Cuban feel of music and dance shows.

Another place near Varadero is the Peninsula de Zapata where bird enthusiast can enjoy watching and observing 350 different types of bird species roaming around and flying past you. Some of these creatures even originated from the place itself. A two hour bus ride from Varadero to the park will take you to this marvelous place to spend a wonderful time with the birds and the beautiful views.
