Isla Culebra is those types of travel destinations that you will get to feel heaven in Puerto Rico. It is famously known as a beach paradise and has been luring beach bums, nature lovers and beach enthusiasts from all over the world.

The island’s primary attraction is its state of being a secluded area. It has pristine, sandy white beaches that are absent of trendy restaurants, luxury resorts or grand casinos. Is is also rarely visited by many crowds that makes it the perfect place for tranquil relaxation. Since there are only few tourist facilities available, it is the perfect outdoor destination for cyclers, hikers and, for the romantic people, lovers. Apart from hiking tracks, there are also biking trails available in the island. Biking is an ideal activity in this area because the island’s dimensions are of flat terrains and roads that rarely experiences traffic.

When traveling here, you can’t be in sync if you were planning to go shopping or clubbing for that matter. It is purely natural in all its forms! You will most likely find yourself alone on an empty beach during peak season where you will sulk yourself in clear waters filled with tons of fishes and marine life.

Isla Culebra may be reached from ferry, private boat or via small plane, whichever you prefer.

Although Calebra is full of majestic beaches, it is not the only attraction that it holds. There is also a wildlife reserve nearby named the Culebra National Wildlife Refuge. It composes of one third of the island with tons of various species calling it home such as endangered turtles, pelicans and gulls. There are also twenty-three other islands that form part of the reserve. One favorite day trip destination in the archipelago is the Isla Culebrita where a small coral cay reaches up to a mile. It has luscious forests, diverse wildlife, six other beaches and tide pools.

As mentioned earlier, the island has various beaches to choose from… eight to be exact. Some of which are huge and offer picturesque views of white sands. If you are fascinated with beaches and yearn large waves, then you should make your way to Playa Brava where surfing is a top sport to enjoy just about north of the island. For those who love to just have a quiet, relaxing time alone, Plaza Zoni would be the beach for you. The most famous and most preferable among the tourists though is the Flamingo Beach, also called as Playa Flamenco.

The Playa Flamenco is a palm-tree-full public beach that has white sandy beaches reaching up to about a mile wide. Its waters are generally pristine and shallow which makes it ideal for families traveling with their little ones. Flamingo Beach is also an excellent area for snorkeling and entry-level diving. The beach is complete with toilet facilities and a restaurant if you ever get to be famished after taking a dive. Endangered leatherback sea turtles are making this place as their area for nesting during the months of March and June. The beach is called as Flamingo also due to its abundance of flamingos that may be seen passing by from every point of the beach.
